If you answered yes to any of these questions, consider a summer working in a Provincial Campground in Northern BC!

We are hiring Park Operators for six BC Provincial Parks in Northeastern BC. We’re looking for a dynamic group of people to join our team. The six parks that we operate are:
Moberly LakeGwillim LakeSwan LakeCharlie LakeBeatton and Kiskatinaw! Discover all that Northern BC has to offer!

Job Type:

  • Seasonal Contract – Full Time 
  • May 2019 to September 2019
  • (10 on – 4 off shift rotation)

Compensation:

  • $138 / day (based on an 8-hour day)
  • 4% vacation pay paid bi-weekly
  • On-site accommodations provided
  • Access to recreation equipment and camping in the parks that we operate

Duties Include


Daily Operations & Admin:

  • Collection of park fees and provision of firewood
  • Handle Discover Camping Reservations
  • Daily completion of log book, reservations and cash outs
  • Communicate by means of proper protocols with co-workers, management and BC Parks
  • Record and report traffic counter results and park stats
  • Participation in WorkSafe Safety Meetings
  • Closing of main gate at 11:00PM

Customer Service:

  • Respond to Park Campground user inquiries and provide assistance as required
  • Represent BC Parks and Sandstorm North Contracting in a professional manner
  • Participate in interpretive service plus events (Park’s Day, Canada Day)
  • Participate is BC Parks customer satisfaction surveys 

 Maintenance:

  • Clean and maintain park facilities according to BC Parks standards including but not limited to; maintenance of pit toilets, campsites, garbage and recycling receptacles, parking lots, information shelters, trails and day-use areas.
  • Identify and record deficiencies in deficiency log (e.g. broken hinge, rotten sign post)
  • Repair and paint deficiencies when required
  • Physical Demands such as medium/heavy lifting, climbing ladders, pushing, pulling and operating various landscaping equipment/tools.
  • Grounds keeping through the use of landscaping equipment (weed-wacker, brush-saw, lawn mower) to maintain vegetation growth
  • Assist in preventative maintenance projects as required
  • Equipment / Truck inspections and maintenance activities before using equipment  
  • Keep tools and equipment organized and in good working condition

Security / Policy Enforcement:

  • Provide site security patrols and enforcement of park policies
  • Report incidents and occurrences accurately and efficiently to supervisor and/or manager
  • Deal effectively with enforcement situations in a mature and responsible manner.
  • Generate voluntary compliance with verbal/written strategies
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures and to deal with them effectively
  • Remain on call for security and emergencies between 11:00PM – 6:30AM

Accurate in recording and reporting

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract
  • Clean Criminal Record
  • Current OFA Level 1 Certification
  • Physically fit & willing/able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Available to live on-site during work shift (accommodations provided).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to handle repetitive motions
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
